“A taste of sunshine and tropical flowers - this honey is the best!!” — S.E. Shepherd from Massachusetts

Our Story

Ha’iku Hives is a family-run apiary located on the north shore of Maui, Hawai’i. We’ve been beekeeping since 2016. Our bees forage in a lush tropical landscape. On our property alone, they visit citrus (orange, lemon, lime, grapefruit, tangerine), avocado, lilikoi, papaya, coconut palm, coffee, and a wide variety of tropical flowers. Nearby, they pollinate plants including hibiscus, christmas berry, mango and lychee.

Early in the Covid shutdown, Cyris, then age 16, and Talei, then age 13, decided to start a business. Cyris designed the Ha’iku Hives logo and website, and together they managed day-to-day operations, from harvesting and processing, to shipping and local delivery. Now they each lend a hand when they’re back on Maui during school breaks, and all proceeds from the business support their college studies in Connecticut and New York.

Ha’iku Hives practices treatment-free beekeeping, using no antibiotics or chemicals whatsoever. Although honey never goes bad, we harvest and sell in small batches on a quarterly basis.

10% of profits are donated to environmental causes, in particular supporting bee health and habitat.

Please Note:

  • Our honey is home produced and processed, and has not been inspected by the department of health.

  • Honey should not be consumed by infants under the age of one.
